Proud descendant of the PrestonTownship with roots in East Preston, North Preston and Halifax, Nova Scotia and currently resides in Lake Loon. Charmaine worked in the Financial Banking field for over 20 years and currently works as an educator in the role of African Nova Scotian Student Support Worker with HRCE for the past eight years. She is passionate about education and the overall wellbeing, academic and cultural lens experiences of our African Nova Scotian/Descent students. She is an active member within the community with the Black Educators Association and the Council on African Canadian Education providing advice to the Minister of Education with the Department of Education. Charmaine serves as the Vice-President of the Rev. Dr. Donald & Evelina Skeir Memorial Scholarship where over 50 recipients received funds to further their education since February 2000. Last year in 2023, she was acknowledged and awarded during Education Week for the exceptional contributions in a support role. Currently, Charmaine is attending Mount Saint Vincent University working on a Bachelor of Arts Degree (General Studies) part time online. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling and reading and has been married for over 30 years and is a proud parent of three children.
