Daniel Searl
Daniel Searl, 31, is a dedicated entrepreneur, and Early Childhood Educator, with a strong commitment to transforming early childhood and environmental stewardship. He grew up as a military child, in Eastern Passage with family roots in many Black townships across Nova Scotia and Midland Ontario. Always socially responsible, his first initiative was with YACPAC, advocating for a skate park to provide local youth a safe recreational space. As part of the South Eastern Community Health Board he helped lead the Global Youth Project, while still in high school. He led a youth program helping community projects, like Habitat for Humanity. Daniel founded The Forgotten Years, an innovative venture focused on "play-based education" that fosters community ties and provides a unique educational experience in a natural setting, particularly supportive of families with neurodiverse children. He is also a facilitator for the Africentric parenting program Nurturing Strong African Nova Scotian Families, working with parents in Halifax. In 2022, he was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his entrepreneurial success and positive impact on the lives of numerous children and families in the community. Daniel resides in Eastern Passage with his fiancé Kayla and their two children.
