Suzy Hansen, raised in the North End of Halifax, a descendant of Africville. Suzy is proud to be the MLA for Halifax Needham, elected in August 2021. She is the first black woman to sit in legislature for this riding. Suzy is the NDP Caucus Spokesperson for a number of portfolios and she serves as the Caucus Chair. Suzy has been blessed with a beautiful, soulful voice and she enjoys sharing her gift with others. Suzy has Performed alongside and with artists such as Lionel Richie, Natalie Cole, Babyface, Jully Black, JRDN, spoken word artist Shauntay Grant, Gary Beals and ASIA and NUGRUV, to name a few. Suzy also has a number of theatre and film credits for her work onstage on and off screen, in stage productions at Neptune theatre, and onset at ATV/CTV and CBC television. In 2016, she won a seat on the Halifax Regional School Board for District 5, where she advocated passionately for students and schools. Suzy Hansen is blessed to be a mother of seven beautiful children and is a champion for her community, Suzy believes that her steps have been Ordered by the most High, Suzy has been inspired and guided to do this work and hopes to encourage and inspire others to step out on faith and be the best version of themselves always in everything that you do.
