Anne Johnson-McDonald

Anne Johnson-McDonald is an educator by profession and a gifted singer, artistic director and playwright by anointment and choice from the community of North Preston, NS.  She has a M.Ed., Saint Mary’s University, B.A Dramatic Arts, McMaster University, B.P.E, Dalhousie University and Diploma, Educational Leadership Consortium of Nova Scotia.  Anne also studied Musical Theatre at Banff Centre School of Fine Arts.  Anne is an accomplished Gospel singer/ artistic director/playwright.  Her focus is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and share the history and culture of her people. Anne has dedicated herself to music and youth ministry at her local church.  Anne was the founding director of Son-Light Gospel Musical Ensemble and Focus Gospel Musical Theatre Troupe. Anne was granted the African Nova Scotian Music Association  Heritage award in 2020. Anne has been a public school educator for 30 years and is currently Principal of Nelson Whynder Elementary. Her mission is to move her students to excellence in a culturally responsive  environment. Anne currently serves on the African United Baptist Association Executive, the Board of Directors of the Black Educators Association, BLAS of Dalhousie  and the Council of the Canadian Baptist of Atlantic Canada.
