Daneesha Provo

Daneesha is a 28-year-old entrepreneur, business owner, and professional basketball player from North Preston, Nova Scotia, a community with deep cultural and historical significance. A former member of Canada’s Senior Women’s National Basketball Team, she has traveled to over 20 countries, using her platform to inspire young girls across Nova Scotia and beyond. Daneesha is committed to empowering the next generation through sports, education, and mentorship, particularly focusing on young Black girls. Daneesha is the founder and CEO of the Daneesha Provo Canadian Basketball Academy (DPCBA), which provides opportunities for girls to develop their basketball skills while emphasizing education and personal growth. Her academy reflects her mission to use basketball as a tool for empowerment and lifelong opportunities. She is also a positive role model in the Black community, contributing to initiatives that celebrate resilience, ambition, and community engagement. A graduate of the University of Utah, Daneesha holds dual degrees in Health Science and Sociology, with a minor in Disability Studies. Her academic and athletic achievements, coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit, embody her dedication to breaking barriers and paving the way for others.
