Jamira Berry
Jamira hails from the historical black community of North Preston. She is the First Black Makeup Key in the Nova Scotian film industry. Jamira is an IATSE 849 Local Union Member and a Co-chair for their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. Jamira has worked on notable productions including Saint Pierre (currently airing on CBC and CBC Gem), Moonshine, The Trades, Diggstown and Washington Black. Jamira obtained her Makeup Artistry Certification in 2012. She quickly submerged into the beauty industry and expanded her talents in the fashion industry. Jamira hosted a Black Beauty Seminar with Mac Cosmetics Halifax and joined them backstage during the 2024 Juno Awards Show. Jamira is Soli Productions Inc Director of Makeup for Halifax Fashion Week. In 2023, Jamira traveled for Paris Fashion Week featuring Nova Scotian brands. Jamira coordinated looks for Canadian makeup brand Cheekbone Beauty who sponsored Halifax Fashion Week in 2024. Jamira’s passion is to change the narrative in the Atlantic Canadian beauty industry for talent and creating spaces to encourage beauty experts to explore their skills with diverse clientele.
