Janae Layne, 16 years old born and raised in Markham, Ontario. She enjoys volleyball, singing, piano, volunteering and more! She was the Platinum Jubilee singer at the 2022 tree planting ceremony where she met both Mayor John Tory and Lieutenant Governor. Janae has earned three awards signed by the mayor in three different years. Janae has received recognition from YRDSB in 2021 for her Black History Month video. Janae was one of the recipients of the 2023 Change Maker Award from Girl Guides of Canada.  In 2022, she received a letter and certificate  of recognition from Rising Youth Canada for her grant funded project. Janae has several medals from volleyball, in fact her team won gold at the OVA 2023 Provincial Championships! Janae has earned a Black Youth Internship program certificate as well as a Certificate of Contribution from the Schulich Business Excellence Academy! She plans to travel with her volleyball team to Detroit for volleyball. Janae truly has a bright future ahead of her!
