Karen Provo was born and raised in North Preston, Nova Scotia; she is 54 years old and has a passion for helping others. Karen attended Cole Harbour High, and also attended Dalhousie University where she studied Psychology. She is a mother of 4, a wife, community leader, and child of God. Her first stint with youth was her work at the Nova Scotia Home for Coloured Children (now known as the Akoma Family Centre) where she worked from 1992 to 2021 (just under 30 years). She was an instrumental part of the home, where she got to live her passion and purpose everyday of helping people; specifically helping challenged youth. In 1996 she helped start the North Preston Bulls alongside her Husband Neville Provo – where she served as president for over 20 years. In 2018 she started her first business, and in 2021 took the leap of faith to leave her lifelong job to pursue her businesses full time. She has started many businesses alongside her business partners and sons – R&B Kitchen, SmoothMealPrep and more. Most recently, her love for healthy smoothies, and Booster Juice led to owning a franchise, making her one of the first Black Booster Juice franchise owners in Canada. Karen carries a tremendous level of pride in her community of North Preston. She is a devoted member of Saint Thomas Baptist Church and has served on many committees and she still continues her social work by working in places of safety with youth and adults. She is a community leader, and a hidden gem in the community of North Preston. In being so family-oriented, over the years, she's opened her home to many in need, and has mothered a lot more than her 4 biological kids.
