Kyla Simmons, also known as Ky, was born and raised in North Preston, Nova Scotia. She currently works following her passion for kids, as a paediatric registered nurse. She loves to spend her free time travelling and learning about the world. On top of her love for children and travel, Ky loves the Lord and to sing and dance. She expresses this love by serving as the leader of the praise and worship team at her church. As she loves to help others achieve their goals and dreams, Ky also serves as a youth leader at church. Additionally, she is a project manager on the ""Give Back-Packs"" initiative in which back-packs, school supplies, gift cards and other necessities are provided for members of the community. One of Ky's goals in life has always been to serve as a role model for other Black women, of just how capable they are. She loves connecting with others, mentoring and simply building friendships. As a double alumni of Dalhousie University, who didn't always know what she wanted to do, Ky welcomes anyone looking to find their passion, to connect with her. As She's served on mentorship panels and programs throughout the university, she loves to share her experience of having to come to some harsh realities and choosing yourself in a world that often tells us we shouldn't.
