Michelle Patrick

Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, raised in Newfoundland, and now living in Halifax, Michelle has worked tirelessly to create opportunities and pathways for success for students in post-secondary education, particularly African Nova Scotian and Black students. Her passion for helping students thrive led her to found PLANS (Promoting Leadership in health for African Nova Scotians), connecting Black youth to careers in health professions. Though she’s moved on from Dalhousie University, she continues to mentor Black students through various programs, offering guidance and encouragement as they pursue their goals. In her leadership roles, she strives to uplift and inspire by fostering a culture of integrity and support. Michelle believes strong leadership not only drives success but empowers others to reach their full potential. Supporting students has always been at the heart of her work. From building programs that remove barriers to organizing initiatives that inspire, her focus remains on uplifting others. It’s deeply rewarding to see the impact of mentorship and community support on students’ lives. Michelle’s greatest pride comes from helping students achieve their dreams and creating pathways for the next generation to thrive.
