Micah Smith
What’s Up Party People!? Ok So… Micah Smith is a leader, dedicated to empowering her community. Born and raised in North Preston, Canada’s largest Indigenous Black community, Micah is deeply rooted in her church. She is in her 15th year serving as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the ECMA-winning Hallelujah Praise Choir, and Director of the Baptist Youth Fellowship. A Registered Massage Therapist since 2014, Micah thrives as a musician, collaborating with Reeny Smith, Joel Plaskett, Matt Andersen, and Michael Bublé, and opening for Lisa Fischer, Jully Black, Buddy Guy, Daniel Caesar, and Anderson Paak. Her passion for mentorship shines through her work with ADVANCE Canada’s Black Music Business Collective, where she serves on the Board, and Women in Music Canada, as a Leadership Accelerator Program graduate. In 2023, Micah launched Crescendo Fest, amplifying African Nova Scotian and Black artists. She’s a two-time winner of Music Nova Scotia's Artistic Development Award, with Crescendo Fest earning Live Sector Award nominations both years. Selected for the Viva Sounds Mission in Sweden and a JUNOfest Producer for the 2024 JUNO Awards, Micah celebrates Black music and culture while bridging music and community empowerment to inspire meaningful change.
